We are a farm family of 5 located on approximately 12 acres in a small town in north central Arkansas.   We have farm fresh eggs, lots of chickens, dairy goats, and dogs!  We breed and show Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats.

The goal of this site is to share our experiences of starting and maintaining a family farm as well as our take, humorous or otherwise, on our wonderful life on the Farm.  Please browse through our site and feel free to contact us with questions, comments or suggestions.

Chicken Scratchfrom the Farm at Apple Hill

I’m Stephanie.  My husband Bryan and I have 3 children, 2 dogs, a growing number of dairy goats and too many chickens to count. Bryan is an RN and in executive nursing administration; I’m an adjunct law, paralegal and writing instructor. In our spare time :), we’re farmers.

I’ve been a blogger since November 2008 and a writer for longer than I can remember.  I had a personal blog on Blogger, where I blogged about pretty much anything and everything, but mainly my children, called It’s a Wonderful Life for a couple of years.  Once we started the farm, and I started writing about it, I thought it just made sense to combine it all. Recently, though I started a personal blog again, http://stephhwilliams.com, because it made more sense to keep Chicken Scratch related to the farm.

I’m generally the voice of the farm, probably because I’ve got the loudest mouth, but the site is meant to share stories and experiences on behalf of us all.
